We all know the world we live in is messy, but this really should not come as a surprise since our world is filled with sinners (like all of us) in need of a Savior. God responds to that need out of His goodness by saving us through grace alone, for we have not earned this.
We are reminded many times throughout the Bible of God’s faithfulness and goodness. These reminders are so important because they give us hope, and are often preceded by “But God . . .”
“But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and He sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.” Genesis 8:1
“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50:20
“My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.” Psalm 73:26
“But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle.” Exodus
“...but God raised him from the dead.” Acts 3:15
“But God had mercy on him, and not only him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.” Philippians 2:27
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ —by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
